Is is obvious by now that Kathy and I have a 'thing" for blue and white quilts? We made this one when she flew out to CA and we all met a quilter friend for a few days of sewing and sightseeing. All three of us swapped blues and shirtings so we would have a good variety. I just finished this one in 2008.
You can see from the backing that I machine quilted it with hanging diamonds. I absolutely love the blue and tan toile!! I wish I had more!!
I'm not sure this is the Road to CA quilt block, but that's what I'm calling mine.

Album Quilt
This was my first two color quilt. This was to commemorate my first big get together with internet quilters in Columbus, Ohio in 1997. I started to hand quilt it, but ended up realizing I didn't have the gumption to ever finish it that way, so with the help of a friend we ripped it out and I sent it away to a cheap machine quilter just to get it done.

Stars! Stars! Stars!
I thought I'd wrap up the Americana quilts by showing a few unfinished projects.
A friend designed these feathered stars in Electric Quilt. I can see the upper 4 going around some kind of applique or maybe the 4 corners of a feathered star sampler. I enjoyed making them but haven't looked any further to what to do with them. Any ideas? I'd love to hear- please leave me a comment.
This was a scrap buster I did in 2008. When I pulled it out to take a photo I wished I would have made it bigger. I really like it! The border is machine appliqued. The corners look a bit bare, but I think I can fill that in with some quilting.

Glory Be!
I did this wallhanging using the new Presidents collection. I love history and Americana so this was a fun little quilt to do.
I bought this vintage quilt from a friend's sister. It didn't fit her decor but it sure fits mine, wouldn't you say? I love the huge Baptist fans quilted in the "big stitch" style. You can click to enlarge any photos and get a better view.
I bought this vintage cross stitched and embroidered pillow on Ebay. It's stuffed with fluffy feathers and is stitched on something similar to prairie cloth. This is one of my favorite Ebay finds!!

Let Freedom Ring! More Patriotic Quilts
This first quilt was made up of blocks from my first online block exchange. I was fairly new to quilting and the internet so it was very exciting to have quilt blocks from all over the world!

Patriotic Quilts
This first quilt is one a group of online buddies made for me when our family was going through some tough times. Their hands were really with me during that time and wrapping in the quilt was so comforting. Machine quilted by Kat.
The eagle quilt was hand appliqued by me using several elements of different patterns. I've always been drawn to the folk art style quilts. It's a bit funky but one of my summer favorites. Machine quilted by me.

More American Spirit
This first quilt was made with my good friend, Kat, on her first trip "west". We took a class the week before the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. It was appropriately named "To Sisters through Ohio." My friend is from Ohio so we knew it's be perfect for us. Machine quilted by Bonnie Hunter.
This simple one is from Thimbleberries. It is hand quilted and the label says it took me 2 years! I'm not any faster now then I was back then!!!
This was a fun one that introduced me to the use of wool in my quilts. I love working with wool now. This was machine quilted by me.

Americana Quilts
I just deleted the posts I made, so if you are back things may look a bit different.
In honor of Presidents Day, Lincoln's 200th birthday, a new president and our vacation we will be taking to DC I am going to show you my collection of Americana style quilts.
This is a star sampler I made from my second class at the Stitchin' Post in 1994. This involved a little more precision and for that I am grateful. I'm a humble quilter and don't always feel the need for pointy points. If I need them, I am capable. That's what I appreciated about this class. I hand quilted this.
These little quilts don't see daylight too often. They were fun to make at the time and it is funny for me to see that I've been drawn to the more primitive style for quite a while now. They were made back in 1995-1996.

My New Quilt Blog
There are so many Weight Watcher members that are quilters I thought I'd jump in and share a bit of my quilting. I love old quilts and traditional style quilting. Here is my latest quilt I finished last night.
I first saw this quilt hanging in a museum downtown Lancaster, PA several years ago. I've had the snapshot hanging in my sewing room and knew I wanted to make one some day. I'm not sure why the poison green and double pinks appeal to me, but I seem to be using a lot more of those colors lately.
It was quilted by my good friend Kathy McCarty.
